Irish Mythen at Trailside for concert

-

Irish Mythen will be bringing her wild and exciting live show to the Trailside Café & Inn in Mount Stewart today, getting underway at 8 p. m.

Mythen’s earliest musical influences were the sounds of Makem and Clancy, Planxty and Bob Dylan being played by her parents as they drove around the Caribbean island of Trinidad where she lived as a child.

Later, along with her family, Irish moved to the Middle East and this is where she took up the guitar, singing and writing songs.

In 2000, she moved to Australia where she quickly established large and loyal following.

Festivals and some large support slots followed.

The year 2003 brought the release of Appreciate on Myth Records, and in 2006 there was another major location move, this time to Canada to play at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival in Canso, N. S. She arrived armed with her latest release: Fallen Me produced by Paul Mills. The E. P sold out over the weekend.

2007 led Mythen back to Toronto record the full album, Sweet Necessity, again with Mills. She

a toured across Canada with Sweet Necessity and is now ready to do it all again with her fourth release, Open Here. Dave Gunning, Thom Swift, Jeff Arsenault, Brian Bourne, Kim Dunn and Anna Ludlow are just a few of the people who contributed to this new release.

Mythen’s second Canadian album, Open Here, was nominated for roots album of the year at the 2012 East Coast Music Awards.

Tickets for the show are available at www. trailside. ca and Back Alley Music in Charlottetown or call 676- 3130 for reservations.
