Gospel ceilidh part of annual yard sale

-

The 70 Mile Yard sale gospel ceilidh will be held in the garden at the Macphail Homestead in Orwell, Sunday, Sept. 22, 2- 4 p. m., as part of the yard sale festivities.

Join well- known special guests Charlie Hansen and Glenda Johnston and Leith and Evy Lou McCarran, along with local favourites Garnet Bell and the Singing Islanders ( Donald Mackenzie, and Keith Nicholson) the MacDonald Sisters ( Marie Docherty and Doris Matheson) and Marie McIntyre. These performers are known across the Island for their music, their fun and their support of not- forprofit organizations.

The ceilidh will be a part of the annual multi- table yard sale held at the homestead for this annual 70 Mile Yard sale celebration. Many vendors will be selling treasures of all kinds. New this year is the homestead garden ( one acre), which has produced a wonderful selection of vegetables that will be for sale. Vendors will be set up Saturday and Sunday 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. The tea room will be open during the weekend for lunches and light refreshments.

Another highlight of the weekend is the work of the Winsloe Charlottetown Royalty U- 16 boys soccer team who will be out in full force to assist the homestead with many volunteer tasks, as well as to raise funds for their trip to B. C. for the national age- group club championship. These young people are keen to give back to the community while raising some much needed-funds for their own team.

Weather permitting, the ceilidh will be held in the beautiful garden, and guests are encouraged to bring lawnchairs. It will be moved inside if the weather is poor.

The Macphail Homestead is located just off the Trans- Canada Highway in Orwell. Follow the winding road, which becomes a scenic tree- covered lane, until it reaches the green gate and grounds of the Sir Andrew Macphail Homestead as well as the Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry project.

The ceilidh includes a 50/ 50 draw, door prizes and great fun and music for everyone. Donations to the homestead in lieu of admission are much appreciated.
