Confederation Singers, Youth Chorus prepare to present In Remembrance at Trinity United

-

The Confederation Singers and the Confederation Centre Youth Chorus will present a Remembrance Day concert of choral music and readings in honour of Canada’s war veterans.

The In Remembrance concert takes place on Monday, Nov. 11, 7: 30 p. m., at Trinity United Church in Charlottetown.

“In Remembrance offers an evening of captivating poetry complemented by appropriate selections of choral music; one reflects and heightens the other,” says Don Fraser, director of music at Confederation Centre of the Arts.

“Much of the poetry is from the First World War, and included in the music is a Canadian choral setting of the famous In Flanders Fields poem.”

The popular annual concert will also feature the number entitled I’m Dreaming of Home, which members of the Youth Chorus performed at a dedication ceremony for the newly restored Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France in April 2007 on the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

Other selections include Eric Whitacre’s alluring Sleep, the selection How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place from Brahms’ Requiem, the beautiful Pie Jesu by Fauré and the contemporary and poignant Distant Land by John Rutter.

Tickets for the eighth annual In Remembrance performance are available at Confederation Centre’s box office at 566- 1267 and toll free at 1- 800- 565- 0278, online at confederationcentre. com or in person at the concert.
