What a show it was at the Souris Show Hall last Sunday afternoon as a concert called Peggy Clinton with Family and Friends from East to West was presented for a sold- out and thoroughly- lovingit crowd.

This was the second of its two sold- out shows last weekend — the former one being on Saturday night. This is also the third time that these back- to- back sold- out shows have been presented at the Show Hall over the past year.

To give you an even further idea of how popular this concert is: the Saturday show sold out as soon as it was announced ( within a 24- hour period) and the Sunday show sold out as soon as the tickets were printed.

So, naturally, I was quite looking forward to attending this concert. But not just because of all of this hype, but also because it would be my first time having the pleasure of reviewing a concert at the Souris Show Hall.

Just in case you may not know, the Souris Show Hall is located at 5 Church St. in Souris and was built in 1880. It thrived as a beautiful through the years.

I think I would need a novel if I were to tell you all about the type of entertainment that was given to us that afternoon. It was just a mind- boggling display of talent, humour, off- the- wall ridiculousness and continuous showmanship with a new surprise around every turn.

Amid 10 different performers and three hours worth of musical fodder, it seemed as though the audience was left just shaking their heads in impressed awe and enjoyment time and time again. And I think it truly is one of those, “You have to see it to believe it,” kind of shows.

Featuring Clinton on guitar/ vocals, her father, Alphy Perry, on guitar/ vocals, Victor Doucette on lead guitar and vocals, Steven Perry on fiddle, Cathy Doucette on bass, Johnny Ross on piano, Peggy’s sister Connie LeClair on vocals, Connie’s son Jordan LeClair on guitar/ vocals, and Peggy’s daughters Anna Clinton on vocals and Maria Clinton on “foot puppeteering,” to call it a “variety” show would seem to be an understatement.

All I can emphasize is that I wish I had more writing space to tell you all about its countryflavoured, classic rock n’ roll spiced, Celtic- seasoned, anticinfused delight. But I suppose you’ll just have to take my generalized words for it on this occasion when I say that it was an extravaganza of talent and a smorgasbord of diversity. And for this reason it is no darn wonder that it always sells out so quickly.

So, if you’re liking the sounds of this, next time you see this concert advertised, do yourself a favour and hop on it quickly to get your tickets to see several shows worth of entertainment all packed into one.

The next upcoming shows to check out at the Souris Show Hall are this Sunday’s MADD fundraising concert at 2 p. m., the benefit concert for Michael Winters on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 7 p. m.; the Souris Show Hall Christmas concert on Saturday, Dec. 7 right after the parade, 4- 6 p. m., and the Treble with Girls Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 7: 30 p. m.
