Performers teaming up for I’ll Be Seeing You concerts

-

Audiences will have two opportunities to attend I’ll Be Seeing You, featuring vocalist Suzanne Campbell and pianist Jacqueline Sorensen Young as they present their annual concert tour of musical memories commemorating the many wars that have affected Prince Edward Island and its inhabitants.

The warm, vibrant acoustics of Trinity United Church in Charlottetown will be the setting for their first concert today at 7 p. m. Then the South Shore United Church, which showcases the beautiful William Critchlow Harris architectural design in Tryon will be the venue on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2: 30 p. m.

From a Scottish Rebellion in the 1700s and the Boer War of the Victorian era to the devastation of the wars of the 20th century and to the current mission in Afghanistan, P. E. I. has felt the impact on the land and its people. However, even through the tragedy of war, the power of music can soothe, uplift and inspire.

Campbell and Sorensen Young will share the magic of some favourite melodies from each era, including Loch Lomond, Will Ye No Come Back Again?, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, I’ll Be Seeing You, The White Cliffs of Dover, I Believe and The Prayer. Added to this concert performance will be a screen presentation featuring inspirational and thought- provoking images which reflect the songs within the program.

Campbell and Sorensen Young are no strangers to audiences on P. E. I., having collaborated separately and together on many Island stages. Their Remembrance Day concert has been one of their most popular presentations.

Described by Todd MacLean of the Guardian, “This concert was definitely one of the most superb Remembrance Day presentations I’ve ever heard. The prowess of the two performers was evident right away — Campbell with her excellent projection, bright vibrato and delightfully animated expression and Sorensen Young with her perfectlyflowing, arrow- straight unwavering focus, that truly makes her one of the best accompanists on P. E. I. What a magnificent production I’ll Be Seeing You was, in both its package and performance.”

Trinity United Church is located at 220 Richmond St., Charlottetown. The South Shore United Church is located at # 85, Route 10 in Tryon. Tickets for both concerts are $ 12 for adults and $ 8 for students and will be available at the door.
