Dennis Ellsworth has a positive message to share with his fans in his new CD, Hazy Sunshine.

From the first number, Things I Want, to the last, Can’t Turn to You, the 12 tracks focus on hope and the idea that if people can hold on long enough, things will turn around.

“It’s a tough world. You have to stay positive. You’re not very productive when you’re down,” says Ellsworth, who will share his optimistic offerings during a CD release party on Nov. 16 at The Guild in Charlottetown at 8 p. m.

Nowhere is Ellsworth’s positive attitude seen more clearly than in Happiness, a song which talks about protecting one’s heart and mind from darkness by surrounding it with love.

“It’s a very hopeful song . . . If you don’t hold out hope for the future, who is to say your life is going to turn into what you wanted it to be?” says the P. E. I. singersongwriter who is hoping for a big crowd at his CD launch next Saturday night.

That evening he will share the stage with Jessica Rhaye, an up- and- coming Nova Scotia singer- songwriter who is also releasing her new album, Far Gone Lullabies.

“Jessica will come out first. Then I will come out to sing on one of her songs with her because I provided a backup vocal on one of her tracks on her new album,” says Ellsworth.

Then, when it’s time for him to stand in the spotlight, he won’t be alone.

“I’ve put together a band for the tour, The Dwellers. That will be different because people are used to seeing me as a soloist. But, we’ve been rehearsing and everything is coming together great,” says the Charlottetown native.

Besides showcasing songs from the album, he will perform fan favourites.

“I will be playing tunes from my last record, Dusk Dreams. And I’ll throw in some Haunted Heart songs, for good measure. So there will be a bit of variety,” says Ellsworth, who is currently on an Atlantic tour.

After his CD release, he’s heading to England for a 13- show tour as well as a taping of Songs From the Shed, in a community north of Bristol.

“This guy has a shed in his back yard. So, I’m going to stop in and set up in the living room, which has cameras all around it. And he’s going to record a session. We’ll have a little interview and then I’ll perform some songs and then than it will go out on through his social media and YouTube.

“For me, it’s all about building. I’m trying to build on the ( British) market because people there are responsive to my kind of music. I’m glad to be going back.”

And what about the future?

“I’m very hopeful. But I have to keep pushing. I say my future is bright. I also remain hopeful for the human race and the planet that we live on.”
