North Shore community to host Remembrance Day service
The community of North Shore will host a Remembrance Day Service at the Community Centre, 2120 Covehead Rd., Route 25 on Monday, Nov. 11, starting at 10: 30 a. m. All are welcome to attend.
Gordon Ellis, chair of the Community of North Shore is pleased to host the event.
“As a community, we are proud to honour our veterans and service men and women. They are an integral part of our community’s past, present, and future.”
The service will start at 10: 30 a. m. with veterans forming up in front of the monument. Master of ceremonies Jim Lee will announce the remaining program, including prayers, youth presentations, wreath and cross laying and traditional music.
After the service, a potluck will be held in the North Shore Community Centre where hot beverages will be served.
The North Shore Municipality is situated between the P. E. I. National Park and the municipality of York to the north and east of Charlottetown. The economic activity in the area has traditionally been farming, fishing and tourism. But the community has increasingly become a bedroom community for workers who commute to Charlottetown or a summer haven for Islanders and non- Islanders.
