This weekend the Indian River Festival kicks-off July with two exciting concerts: Island Girls featuring Meaghan Blanchard, Tracy Cantin, Sirens and Robert Kortgaard on Friday, July 3 at 7:30 p.m. and David Myles on Sunday, July 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Something in the ocean air and red soil of P.E.I. makes an Island-raised girls want to sing. Today, the festival celebrates two such marvels whose paths are different but whose accomplishments and international accolades continue to amass.

Blanchard, ECMA winning country artist of the year, continues to widen her fan base throughout North America and abroad. Cantin has been thrilling audiences with her stellar voice and dramatic portrayals on concert and opera stages of the world. And if that’s not enough, anchoring the evening is P.E.I.’s own women’s choral ensemble, Sirens.

“Heavenly harmonies and purity of tone are the hallmarks of this unique group,” a news release states.

Cantin will be joined by the Festival’s Artistic Director, Robert Kortgaard, on piano.

In the Indian River Festival’s 20 year history, Myles has established himself among our audience’s favourite performers, making this his fourth appearance at the Festival on Sunday.

“Somewhere on the spectrum between James Taylor and Justin Timberlake, Myles has truly forged his own path by embracing modern and vintage pop, folk and soul music,” a news release states.

A Juno and ECMA winner, Myles has collaborated with Grammy-winner Alex Cuba, and with Classified on “Inner Ninja”, the biggest selling rap single in Canadian history. Myles has recently become host of CBC Radio’s The East Coast Music Hour.

Both performances are at St. Mary’s Church, Indian River. Check www.indianriverfestival.com or call 1-866-856-3733.
