Performers announced for evening of entertainment in Mont-Carmel
The Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series is in full swing for the 2015 season every Sunday evening until Aug. 30, and the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de MontCarmel (CDCPMC) has announced the artists who will take the stage at the MontCarmel Parish Hall on Sunday, July 26.
The fourth of nine shows will feature 4 Cord Boys, Alex Masden from New Brunswick, Julien Kitson and Samantha Robichaud from New Brunswick. There will also be step-dancing by Les Steppeuses.
The group members of 4 Cord Boys (Allan Gallant, Peter Arsenault, Pierre Poirier and Paul Arsenault), are all from the Évangéline area. During their show, the group will sing contemporary songs; the audience will surely want to sing along.
Madsen is the lead singer, lead guitarist and principal songwriter of two-time ECMA awardwinners The Divorcees, an internationally- recognized country group formed in 2005. He was awarded Music New Brunswick's Songwriter of the Year Award in 2012. He is currently in pre-production for a new Divorcees album and is making a debut solo recording.
At the age of four, Julien taught himself how to play the drums and guitar. Whether he's performing in English or French, the 13-year-old multi-instrumentalist feels at home on stage. He has also released his first recording entitled “Thirteen”. In addition, he is currently part of the young company of “Anne & Gilbert: The Musical”, performing at The Guild all summer.
Robichaud has released seven critically-acclaimed albums. Her most recent, “In The Green Room”, earned her the 2013 Music N.B. award for Collaborative Musician of The Year because of the collaborative nature of the project. It is a blend of her own solo compositions, co-written tunes and prime selections from her contemporaries. She has been a professional fiddler, step dancer, vocalist and allaround entertainer during the last decade and a half.
The concert, sponsored by Le Chez-Nous ltée, will start at 7 p.m. and the doors of the MontCarmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. The public is invited to come early because the seating is limited. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for members and $4 for students. Admission is free for preschoolers.
