Westisle Composite High School

There are no classes for students today unless weather prohibits the administra­tion of a final exam, which will bump all exams up by one day.

Tuesday is turn around day. There are no classes for students.

Wednesday is the first day of second semester for students Westisle has won first place in its division Chatter High, the online community in career education. The school will receive $2000.

Colonel Gray High School

Upcoming graduates need to complete a transcript request form in student services right away, if haven’t already done so. All universiti­es/colleges, to which students applied, require official final marks from first semester. Cost is $2 per transcript.

Feb. 2 is an end of the semester administra­tion day with no classes for students.

The school day on Feb. 3 will start with homeroom class, receiving second semester schedules and then going to semester two courses (shortened to 65 minutes). There will be a 10minute opportunit­y at the end of the day for students to return to their first semester teachers to follow up with final assessment­s.

Acadia University will have a representa­tive visiting at lunchtime on Feb. 3. Also, Dalhousie will be at Rodd Charlottet­own at 7 p.m. on Feb. 3. St. Francis Xavier will have representa­tives at the Hotel on Pownal on Feb. 10 from 6:30 - 8 p.m.

On Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. in the lecture theatre, there will be a Grade 12 parent meeting covering postsecond­ary readiness, prom and safe grad.

Bluefield High School

A reminder to parents and students that second semester classes start Wednesday Feb. 3. Encourage students to get the semester off to a positive start by attending every day, remaining focused in class and fully completing assignment­s and projects on time. Parents/guardians are encouraged to contact their son or daughter’s teachers as soon as you have any concerns.

The 2016 Bluefield yearbook is now on sale. Cost is $45. This year all yearbooks must be ordered online from the website. Go to https://bluefieldh­ighschool.wordpress.com/yearbook.

The deadline to submit Duke of Edinburgh awards bronze and silver record books for approval is Tuesday, March 1.

Bluefield has been entertaini­ng P.E.I. with musical performanc­es for the past several years, and is set to do the same this year with another fun, up-beat show, “Bring It On, The Musical”. Inspired by the hit film, “Bring It On”, the show takes audiences on a highflying journey filled with the complexiti­es of friendship, jealousy, betrayal, and forgivenes­s. All shows are at Bluefield in the school cafeteria. Public show times are April 14-16 at 7 p.m. and April 17, 2 p.m.

Charlottet­own Rural High School

The new semester begins on Wednesday, Feb. 3 with a short visit to the previous semester’s homeroom where students will receive their new schedules. Course changes can be requested through the new homeroom teacher during the first three days of the semester, Feb. 3-5. Report cards for final marks from first semester will be distribute­d on Feb. 10. Parents will get a chance to meet their student’s new teachers at meet the teacher night on Feb. 17.

Grade 12 students who are planning to send transcript­s of first semester marks to a university or college, should request them in student services. The month of February has a full lineup of campus tours, scholarshi­p deadlines and university or college visits at the Rural. Students should keep themselves informed of these events by watching daily announceme­nts, visiting student services, or registerin­g at remind.com to receive regular updates on graduation informatio­n.

Kinkora Regional High School

Tuesday is turn-around day. There are no classes for students. Wednesday is the first day of the second semester. Report cards go home on Thursday.

Jessica McCarthy ( jlmccarthy@edu.pe.ca) is the school counselor. She will be setting up another round of Grade 12 appointmen­ts in the month of February. She will be reviewing applicatio­ns to post-secondary institutio­ns, getting students’ final plans together, as well as looking at scholarshi­p applicatio­ns.

In other news, parent ads for the Grad 2016 yearbook are being sold. Parents can email pictures and messages for yearbook ads to kinkorasye­arbook@gmail.com before Fri., Feb. 19. Please make your cheques payable to Kinkora Regional High School. All ads will be ¼ page in size and the cost is $50 per ad. Three Oaks Senior High School

Monday is exam conflict day. Tuesday is turn around day. There are no classes.

Wednesday is the first day of the new semester.

Report cards go home Feb. 8. Islander Day is Feb. 15. There will be no classes that day.

TOSH students are winterizin­g cars at lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It’s a fundraiser for the Summerside Food Bank. Winterizin­g will prevent doors, windows and locks from freezing. This service will assess battery life and will check tire pressure, tread depth and fluid levels. For $10 the winterizin­g also provides anti-freeze protection.
