Under-18 nationals to be hosted in Charlottetown from Aug. 8 to 14
Charlottetown is getting ready to host one of the largest Canadian women’s fastpitch championships in August.
The Softball Canada under18 championship, which has 21 teams registered, will bring together more than 500 athletes, coaches and support staff representing 10 provinces/territories competing for the national title. Taking place Aug. 8 to 14 at the Central Field Complex and City Diamond in Charlottetown, the seven-day, 100-game event will also attract hundreds of fans, family and friends from across the country to cheer on some of Canada’s best up-and-coming female softball players.

The event was last hosted in Prince Edward Island in 2013, when the Saskatoon Selects won the tournament in Charlottetown. A look at where participating teams are from: 3 – British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick. 2 – Saskatchewan. 1 – Quebec, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island. event to help with everything from ticket taking to hospitality and scorekeeping.
“Our volunteer organizing committee has been working hard to plan an outstanding event for fans, sponsors and the community to enjoy,” said committee chairwoman Carol Mayne. “We know that the key to a successful event is our volunteers. We are very grateful for those who have signed up thus far; however, we still need many more volunteers to make this event successful.”
