Multiple threat

McDonald brings speed, pop to Hurricanes lineup

-

The Holland College Hurricanes have added a fast outfielder who can hit in the middle of its order this fall.

Josh McDonald six-foot Oromocto, native.

“Josh is a tremendous athlete who projects to hit in the middle of our lineup and bring added speed on the base paths,” said head coach Andrew MacNevin.

“We love the toughness he brings to the field and look forward to watching him develop on a daily basis within our program.”

McDonald will be enrolling in the sport and leisure management program at Holland College.

“I’ve been playing baseball since I was five-years-old,” said McDonald.

“I know the game very well and what to do in certain situations. I think I have a very high baseball knowledge which I look forward to bringing to the ‘Canes.”

The Hurricanes went 12-0 in the regular season last year, but were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

At nationals, the Hurricanes went on a roll but just fell short in the finals, walking away with the silver medal.

With many players returning for the 2016 season and the addition of new recruits, like McDonald and Devan Thomas, along with the return of Dillon Doucette after a season away, the Hurricanes are a favourite to contend for a national championship.
