The funeral for Gertrude Chaisson of MacLeod Care South Shore Villa, Crapaud and formerly of Borden-Carleton and Kinkora was held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at St. Peter’s Church, Seven Mile Bay where funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Doug MacDonald who proclaimed the gospel and delivered the homily. Con-celebrant was Gertie’s nephew, Rev. Gerard Chaisson. The pall was placed on the casket by daughters, Anne Duffy and Cathy Arsenault. Cross bearer was Jennie Jessome. Mass servers were Debbie Bernard and David McKenna. The first reading from Proverbs was proclaimed by son, Stephen Chaisson and the second reading from “the second letter of Paul to St. Timothy” was proclaimed by son, Emmett Chaisson. Prayers of the faithful were led by grand daughter, Leanne Arsenault. The St. Malachy’s Folk and Senior choir sang: Be Not Afraid; Come to Me; and Hail Mary, Gentle Woman. A post communion hymn was a violin selection by granddaugh­ter, Erin Lewis and recessiona­l, a violin medley by Kevin & Tim Chaisson. The responsori­al hymn was The Lord is My Shepherd. Guitarists were Gary Arsenault, Ramona Roberts and Mike Johnston. Flower bearers were her 10 grandchild­ren. Honorary pall bearers were all those attending the funeral liturgy. Pall bearers were, David and Danny Chaisson, Shawn Arsenault, Stephen Lewis, Jason Coady and Robbie McEntee. Attending the funeral were members of the CWL of St. Peter’s Church, Seven Mile Bay and St. Malachy’s Church, Kinkora, who also said prayers prior to the visitation. Interment was in St. Peter’s Church Cemetery, Seven Mile Bay with Rev. Gerard Chaisson officiatin­g. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora.
