Man jailed for not reporting to his probation officer
A Charlottetown man who went months without reporting to his probation officer was sentenced Monday to 45 days in jail.
Ronald Grant Perry, 44, appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to breaching his probation.
Perry was sentenced in November 2016 to 90 days in jail for damaging property and assault causing bodily harm.
That sentence included two years of probation, but the court heard Perry hadn’t reported to his probation officer since January.
Perry sought to serve any jail time on weekends, but before sentencing him Orr read from his criminal record that included several probation breaches.
“And you think I’m going to give you an intermittent sentence?” Orr asked him.
Perry will serve the sentence as straight time and must pay a $100 victim surcharge.
