P.E.I. Business Women’s Association announces grant recipients
Five Island women are the recipients of 2017 PEIBWA MicroGrant for Women in Business.
The P.E.I. Business Women’s Association announced the recipients at a recent event in Charlottetown.
Recipients include Judith Bayliss (Ruby Lou P.E.I.), Eva Bulman (Eva’s Landscaping and Flower Bed Maintenance), Ashley Condon (Copper Bottom Brewing), Jana Hemphill (Storybook Adventures & Nature Retreat Inc) and Jenny O’Halloran (Jenny’s Foot Care).
The P.E.I. Business Women’s Association received close to 30 applications from women in the following P.E.I. communities: Clinton, Montague, Donaldston, Brookfield, Iona, Summerside, Pinette, Scotchfort, Stratford, Marshfield and Charlottetown. An independent advisory panel met to review the applications and select the recipients for this year’s awards.
“The mandate of the P.E.I. Business Women’s Association is to support women in business — and those who want to be in business. By creating the PEIBWA Micro-Grant in 2016 and continuing to make it available, we can directly support Island women to follow their dreams of business success,” explained Sarah Dunphy, president of PEIBWA.
“Funds for the micro-grants are allocated from our annual fundraising events (Camp Dynamo and Women in Business Symposium) and are open to any woman who is a resident of P.E.I.”
With support from private donors who have chosen to stay anonymous, the group was able to more than double the number of micro-grants this year.
“We were thrilled by the applications that we received and cannot wait to see what the recipients do next,” says Hannah Bell, executive director of PEIBWA.
