Mont-Carmel summer concert series starts July 2
The Summer Concert Series is back at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall every Sunday at 7 p.m., starting July 2.
The first of nine shows will feature Annie and Julien Kitson, Patricia and Marcella Richard, Amy and Rachel Beck and the Cookin’ Trio.
Emceeing the show is Raymond J. Arsenault.
The Kitsons, a sister and brother from Charlottetown, are singers and multi-instrumentalists. This year, they played a few shows during the Festival of Small Halls.
The Richards have independent musical careers but often end up performing together as strongly as their harmonies. Marcella has three French solo albums that are played regularly throughout the Maritimes. Patricia has been a member of numerous musical groups such as Panou, Acadilac and Ode à l’Acadie and, most recently, performed in Lennie Gallant’s show “Searching for Abegweit”. On stage, they share their musical roots and their love of singing.
The Beck sisters began singing together around the family piano in Montague. They now share their pop-tinged folk with eager audiences across Canada. They will be releasing their third album in February.
Cookin’ Trio features Melissa Gallant, Megan Bergeron and Rémi Arsenault. Their energetic traditional music will warm up the dance floor for local step dancers.
The doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. The public is invited to come early because the seating is limited.
Canteen services and a 50/50 are available. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for members of the cooperative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers.
