The Celebratio­n of Life in memory of Rev. George Power was held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from Belvedere Funeral Home to Calvary Church with son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Scott Bullerwell presiding. Scripture passages were read by Rev. Kevin Johnson and Rev. Doug Moore led in prayer. Rev. Johnny Power shared heartfelt family remembranc­es of his father. Julianne (niece) and Roland Savoie, as well as great-granddaugh­ter, Taylor Pedersen, gave touching tributes on a life well lived. During the service, daughters Brenda Bullerwell and Margaret MacKenzie sang “Because He Lives”. “His Eye is on the Sparrow” was sung by granddaugh­ter, Melissa MacKenzie. Ed Doiron sang “I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy”. The congregati­onal hymns were “One Day”, “It Is Well”, and “Meeting in the Air”. All music was accompanie­d by daughter Margaret MacKenzie on the piano. The homily by Rev. Bullerwell, entitled: “Leaving a Legacy”, encouraged attendees to live for God in such a way as to leave a legacy that would be strong enough for their families in their time of need. Pallbearer­s were Dustin Bullerwell, grandson; Nicholas Pedersen, greatgrand­son; Wendell MacKenzie, son-in-law; Chuck Pedersen, grandson-in-law; and nephews Tony Smith and Tyler Meade. Visiting pastors were invited to form an Honour Guard for the Recessiona­l. Also attending the funeral service were members of the Gideon’s Internatio­nal (Charlottet­own). Following the service, everyone was invited to join the family for a reception in the Calvary Church Fellowship Hall. Interment took place in Sherwood Cemetery, led by Rev. Dr. Scott Bullerwell, with Rev. David Filsinger leading in prayer.
