Halifax/Stellarton - A. Gordon MacNeill, age 82, of Halifax and formerly of Stellarton, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 in Halifax. A native of Montague, PEI and only child of the late Arthur and Alberta (Rose) MacNeill, he graduated from Prince of Wales College class of 1954 and later that year joined CIBC. He worked with the bank in all 4 Atlantic Provinces and served as Department Head of the Audit/ Inspection and later the Credit Department­s at the Atlantic Regional Office as well as Manager of the New Glasgow and the Charlottet­own branches from where he retired in 1990 after 36 years of service. He then took up residence in Stellarton and was active in First Presbyteri­an Church in New Glasgow serving as Elder and Trustee as well as Treasurer of the Presbyteri­an Church Camp Geddie for 10 years. He was a former member of Kinsmen, Rotary and lastly the Gyro Club of New Glasgow, serving as Treasurer for 20 years. In retirement, he enjoyed golf as a member of the Abercrombi­e Country Club. He was predecease­d by his best friend and wife of 50 years Olla (Johnston); and is survived by his children, daughter, Nancy Campbell, Dartmouth and her children, Scott, Nicholas and Alexa; son, John (Michelle), Dartmouth, and his children, Jennifer and Jessica; step grandson, Steven; sisters-in-law: Margaret (Jim) Delgarno, Kelowna; Evelyn, Halifax; Shirley (the late Len) McIntosh, Burnaby; Beverley (Bryan) Williams, Barney’s River Station; Marion (Greg) Fraser, Halifax; brothers-inlaw: Robert (Eleanor), New Glasgow; Hector (Ann), Halifax. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, with visitation 7-9 pm Thursday. Memorial service 11 am Friday in First Presbyteri­an Church, New Glasgow, Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiatin­g. Burial to follow in Kenzievill­e Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
