Souris man allegedly assaults friends with baseball bat

SOURIS — A 29-year-old man from Souris faces charges of assault with a baseball bat during a break and enter in that community. Kings District RCMP responded to a 911 call from the Souris residence in the early morning hours of Thursday.

Officers arrested and charged the man at the scene, and he was held in custody overnight for a court appearance at a later date.

The victims of the alleged assault, who police say were known to the accused, were treated at the scene by Island EMS for minor injuries. The RCMP did not specify how many victims were allegedly assaulted.

The investigation is ongoing.
