Trailside gets the blues

Morgan Davis will perform tonight

Bluesman Morgan Davis will be at the Trailside Music Cafe’ and Inn in Mount Stewart tonight beginning at 8 p.m.

Davis has been touring Canada, the U.S. and Europe for 44 years and while combining traditiona­l blues with original material, he performs solo, accompanyi­ng himself on electric guitar as well as three-string cigar box guitar.

Along with multiple Maple Blues Awards over the span of his career, he received the Juno in 2003 for blues album of the year.

Davis has backed up many of the great names in blues Sunnyland Slim, Snooky Pryor, Hubert Sumlin, James Cotton, and Dr. John. He has also opened for Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Albert King, John Hammond, and Eric Bibb.

Just back from a two-month tour of Ontario, Davis has a newly released CD on ElectroFi Records entitled “I Got my Own”, which includes live recordings as well as several new songs recorded in a studio setting. Guests on the CD include David Wilcox, Colin Linden, Al Lerman (Fathead), Lance Anderson (Maple Blues Piano Player of the Year - 2014).

“Morgan Davis is making only one stop in P.E.I. this year so don’t miss him if you’re a fan of the blues folks,” says Trailside owner Pat Deighan.
