‘Fiddling Fisherman’ plays retreat
J.J. Chaisson to take the stage at Rock Barra
J.J. Chaisson, a well-known P.E.I. multi-instrumentalist and entertainer, will play Rock Barra Artist Retreat Sunday as part of the Songs of the NorthSide Concert Series.
The concert series runs every Sunday until Aug. 27. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are at the door, $10 for adults and special discounts for children and families. Farmers are free.
The Songs of the Northside Concert Series is a tribute to P.E.I.’s northeastern cultural roots of storytelling, songwriting and music, a tradition of which Chaisson, who is also known as the “Fiddling Fisherman”, is a steward.
A well-loved musician whereever he travels, even on his fishing boat, “Chaisson a Dream”, this will be his first performance at Rock Barra Artist Retreat.
The concert hall is a rustic, vaulted ceiling creation originally built for a film set. After much refurbishment and artistic effort, the 50-seater offers down home hospitality, tea and cookies at break time and intimacy with performers.
Rock Barra Artist Retreat is located in Rock Barra, 10 minutes north of Souris. For more information or detailed directions, visit www.rockbarraretreat.com.
