Parkdale fun day today
Residents are welcome to come out and meet their neighbours today, 5-7 p.m., at J. Frank McAulay Park on Spring Lane during the 16th annual Parkdale Fun Day.
The annual summer get together in the neighbourhood of Parkdale is free of charge and will feature lots of musical entertainment. On the menu will be hot dogs and mussels plus strawberries and ice cream and homemade cookies that will be served at the canteen next the Spring Lane Ball Field. There will be children’s entertainment and bingo. Entertainment will be provided by the McGarry Boys.
Mayor Clifford Lee and members of Charlottetown city council will be on hand. The event is hosted by the Parkdale and Area Fun Group.
Charlottetown Islanders centre Matthew Grouchy will also take part in a meet and greet. The 17-year old Labrador City, N.L., native played his rookie season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last year after being taken in the sixth round of the league draft in 2015. He played in 62 games scoring 11 goals and adding 17 assists for 28 points. He had 2 goals and an assist in 12 playoff games during the spring.
3T Transit is providing a bus for transportation for senior citizens and others who will be coming from group homes from the area for the evening.
In case of rain it will be held on Aug. 4, 5-7 p.m., at the same location.
