Ellsworth, Nova Scotia in double-life game today

Alberton’s Jeff Ellsworth had three hits Friday as Nova Scotia won both games it played at the Canadian senior men’s fast pitch championsh­ip in Saskatoon, Sask. The East Hants Shooters Bar and Grill Mastodons defeated Saskatchew­an’s Chettys Pretty Boys 5-3 and Alberta’s Grande Prairie Pirates 11-4 to improve to 5-1.

They play in a double-life playoff game today at 4 p.m. Atlantic. Their opponent had not been finalized at press time but it could be the host Saskatoon Angels. Ellsworth singled and struck out against Chettys after coming off the bench late in the game. Saskatchew­an was leading 3-0 through four innings before Nova Scotia tied it with three in the bottom of the fifth and took the lead with a pair in the sixth. Donnelly Archibald got the win in relief of Travis Nevin. Ellsworth was 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and two runs. Justin Schofield went the distance for the win.
