Family finds odd-looking object on Roseville Beach

- BY ALYSHA CAMPBELL newsroom@journalpioneer

Addie O’Meara went to Roseville beach on a cool, windy day on Aug. 21.

Instead of building sandcastles or swimming, she walked the edge of the water with her mom, Kim O’Meara, and grandparents, John and Kathy Lewis, looking for sea glass.

However, what they found turned out to be much more interesting than frosted glass.

Addie found an odd, rusted piece of metal sticking up out of the sand.

It looks like what could be a small door with a flower design on it, but it’s also fused with a long rod and circular piece.

She and her grandmother, Kathy Lewis, thought it was interesting and wanted to bring it home.

“Oh you don’t want that, just leave it,” said Addie’s mother, Kim.

“You never know, it could be worth something,” responded Kathy.

“We have to take home,” said Addie.

They dragged the curious object up the beach with a rope and lugged it home.

All the family members have it back their own theories as to what it might be; everything from a stove door to a tractor part, but Addie seems to have more imaginative ideas.

“I think it’s from the Titanic,” she said.

The women are interested in finding out what the object is. Anyone who might know can contact the Lewis family at jalewis76@hotmail.com.
