“We want to be a team that works hard every night that competes, does the little things right and takes pride in the finer details of the game. We want to be a team that is ready to roll every night.” Pride head coach Luke Beck

Luke Beck’s philosophies of how he wants his Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Pride to play are pretty straight forward.

“We want to be a team that works hard every night that competes, does the little things right and takes pride in the finer details of the game,” said the Pride head coach. “We want to be a team that is ready to roll every night.”

The Pride took a 1-1 (wonlost) record into a road game against the Saint John Vitos (0-1) on Friday night, before travelling to Community Gardens to take on provincial rival Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

“It’s always fun to play Kensington,” noted Beck. “As all games are at this stage of the year, it will be more about figuring out where everyone stands, where everything is at. Obviously, we want to go out and play a full 60 minutes as a group.”

Beck said the Pride roster is still a work in progress.

“We are like most teams this time of year, we are still trying to put all the pieces into the puzzle and figuring how they are all going to shape out,” explained Beck. “We are excited about our team.

“We have graduated and moved some guys on (to junior) and are disappointed they are not here, but at the same time we are very happy for them.”

Beck said he liked how the Pride played in last weekend’s 4-1 road victory over Moncton and 3-1 loss to the Northern Moose at home.

“Any time you can go into Moncton in this league and win, it’s something to be happy about,” said Beck. “I really liked how we played, and I thought Sunday we came back and were a little flat in the early going, but in the second half we played more to how we want to play.”
