Charlottetown launches wellness week
Yoga, juicing, nutrition, home buying and budgeting will all be covered
The City of Charlottetown’s Youth Retention Advisory Board is launching a wellness initiative focused on the fundamentals of strategic self-care.
Happening from Oct. 2-6, it will include yoga and a high intensity interval training in Rochford Square, the benefits of juicing, nutritional guidance, first-time home buying, cyber wellness and a session on how to start budgeting.
Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee said the initiative comes as a direct result of feedback that was received from the young people in the community and the report created by the advisory board.
Youth Wellness Week is geared toward those 35 and under and all of the sessions are free. Space in the indoor sessions may be limited on a first-come basis. Participants are asked to confirm attendance through the Facebook event or by emailing charlottetownyouthmatters@gmail.com.
The week kicks off with yoga in the park in Rochford Square at noon on Monday, weather permitting. It wraps up with a session entitled, A Fireside Chat with Some of Charlottetown’s Young Entrepreneurs from 5-7 p.m. at Bar 1911 Beer and Coffee on Longworth Avenue.
Stay tuned to the group’s Facebook page for updates on session times and information, including event pages for each of the sessions.
