Ceilidh will celebrate Thanksgiving

Guests on Oct. 4 are Kelley Mooney and Dino Dunsford

-

Over the past seven seasons of the Ceilidh In the City, the show the week falling the closest to Thanksgiving weekend has always been a show with a more spiritual flavour to the music.

As families prepare for the upcoming holiday weekend with all of the flavours of fall, the harvest and family traditions, the organizers of the ceilidh welcome two of the Island top gospel recording artists as special guests of this annual show.

Dino Dunsford is a name that needs little introduction on P.E.I., a venerable musician who has seen a music career that has spanned over six decades, and a popularity with music fans that has keep concert halls and churches busting at the seams on countless occasions.

Dunsford has an incredibly powerful voice, charm and whit on the stage and off as he interacts with his audience and sings some of the classic old hymns with a modern southern gospel flare with tons of dynamics and energy.

Sharing the stage with Dunsford is another popular Island artist, Kelley Mooney. Known for her versatility as a musician, Mooney has a powerful range and is a very talented guitar and piano player as well as a singer/songwriter. With a selection of both traditional and original music, Mooney is always a crowd favourite at the many venues she performs at.

Mooney and Dunsford will be joining the weekly hosts of the Ceilidh in the City - Kendall Docherty, Peter Burke, Heartz Godkin and Brian Knox - at the Jack Blanchard Family Centre, located at 7 Pond St. in Charlottetown.

The show will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 7:30 p.m., with the doors opening for general admission at 6:30 p.m. There will be a canteen service offered by the catering staff at Holy Redeemer and a 50/50 draw in support of the Ceilidh Gives Back Fund which supports various Island charities and families in need.

Information on this and upcoming shows is available by calling Docherty at 902-5691133 or Knox at 902-569-3327 or going online at facebook.com/CeilidhInTheCity.
