Victoria Playhouse has teamed with the Atlantic Academy of Performing Arts to offer drama classes for youth.

Atlantic Academy instructor, Sherri-Lee Darrach, who is also the artistic director of Feast Dinner Theatres in Atlantic Canada, has been involved in theatre, film, animation and performance for over 20 years as an actor, creator, director, dancer, singer, producer and teacher.

Her teaching experience includes camps for children, which Darrach created, produced and directed alongside her colleagues, as well as ongoing teachings with Feast Dinner Theatres.

Darrach will lead children and youth as they explore the world of performing arts through games, improve, movement and voice techniques.

Emily Smith, assistant manager of the Victoria Playhouse, said the theatre company is pleased to be able to offer classes in the community.

“There are so many benefits to getting kids involved in theatre. They build self-confidence and creativity while developing collaboration skills,’’ Smith said.

Classes will be offered for children aged four to six, seven to 10, and 11-14 each Saturday afternoon in October, and will take place at the Crapaud Hall at 36 Route 13 in Crapaud.
