CLARK, Rev. John Alexander “Sandy” Bishop

-

January 8, 1939 – November 6, 2017

Minister, teacher, administrator, musician and friend Sandy Clark passed peacefully from the arms of loved ones into the embrace of his dear Lord and Saviour on November 6,

2017. Having lived most his earthly life in

Morell, P.E.I.,

Sandy is survived by his loving wife Louise (Anderson), and their children, Ewan (Anne), John (Mary), Marion (Steven) and Janet (Sean). Grampy will be greatly missed by Emma, Lauren, Luke, Anna, Thomas, Sarah, Laura and Julia. Born in Kentville, N.S., Sandy was the eldest son of Ewan and Helena Clark (Bishop), and cherished brother of Ken (Sally), Ewan “Sudsy” (predeceased) and sister, Janet (Jim). He was also predeceased by his beloved mother-in-law, Marion Anderson (Coffin). He will be fondly remembered by a lifetime of dear friends, colleagues and other relatives sprinkled around the world. Sandy and Louise were married on August 20, 1966 and spent the ensuing years working, taking on projects, travelling and sharing many adventures, twists and turns in the road exploring in cars, planes, campers, and motorcycles, creating wonderful memories for family and friends to cherish. Sandy dedicated his life and talents to service of the Lord and to his community in word, music and deed. He had a lifelong thirst for learning. A voracious reader, he studied at Acadia, Atlantic School of Theology, Dalhousie, Prince of Wales College, St FX, UNB, and UPEI. He imbued his curiosity in his children and many other students, colleagues and friends fortunate to have been touched by his generous and large heart. His calling as a United Church Minister, briefly interrupted by a 30 year career as a teacher and principal, was where Sandy felt most comfortable and filled with purpose. A man of the strongest Christian faith, a great orator with a keen intellect and wit, he shared his message, empathy and respect. Sandy devoted his life to his family, Church and community volunteering and participating in youth, music, theatre, civic and too many other roles to list. A gifted musician, he could brighten any room immediately with his voice, music and presence. He was cherished and respected by so many whose lives he touched. He was a wonderful man. Forever generous with his time and talents, for 78 years he walked humbly among us with interest, curiosity, compassion, respect and appreciation of diversity and differences, always striving for what was just and good. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday November 9 from 4-7 p.m. at the Belvedere Funeral Home. A service in celebration of Sandy’s life will be held at Peter Gordon Memorial United Church in Morell on Friday November 10 at 2:30 p.m. Special thanks to those who cared for Sandy, in particular at the QEH and Brecken House. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peter Gordon Memorial United Church, QEH Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. Donations, condolences and memories may be provided to belvederefh.com.
