A ceilidh at the Kaylee Hall is Fridays, 8-11 p.m. Admission is $5. Music is by Jim Madsen, Donnie MacDonald, Jim Galpin and Elinor MacAulay. Rachel Lapoint, site director of Miscouche’s Acadian Museum of P.E.I., stands next to a spinning wheel, which would probably date back to 1890. It’s part of the temporary exhibition marking the bicentennial of the parish of Miscouche. The display featured numerous photos and artifacts from the museum’s collection, which illustrated the rich history and social and cultural life of the area.

The first ceilidh of 2018 at Winsloe United Church is Jan. 22, 7:30 p.m. (postponed from Jan. 8). Host Colleen MacPhee welcomes back former host Larry Campbell as well as guest drummer Billy Matthews. This is a fundraiser for the church, which is wheelchair accessible and offers plenty of parking. There will be a light lunch served. QCONCERTS
Foundation. There’s a 50/50 draw, door prizes, tickets on a West Jet Trip for two and a homemade lunch at intermission. Admission is adults, $10, students, 12 and under, $5, and preschoolers free.
A variety concert, featuring On The Road Again with Ernie Gallant, Claude Gaudet, John Campbell and Joe Lawless, is Jan. 15, 7-9 p.m., at the Summerside Legion. Open mike performers, 7-7:30 p.m., have free admission. Admission for everyone else is $5. There is also a 50/50 draw and door prize.
Lively Songs for Little People by Michael Pendergast (the Music Man) are casual drop-in shows with a small family-friendly rate, movements, songs, dance and humour. They are Tuesdays, 10:45 a.m., in the food court of Confederation Court Mall and Thursdays at the Stratford Town Hall gym, 10:45 a.m.

A winter concert-ceilidh series will kick off at Trinity United Church, 90 Spring St., Summerside, on Jan. 21, 2 p.m. The concerts will be held on the third Sunday afternoon of each month from January to May. In the event of a storm, the concert will be held the following Sunday at the same time. The first concert will feature Janet McGarry and Wildwood, who have performed for many years at bluegrass festivals and many other events throughout eastern Canada and beyond. Susan Aglukark performs in the Homburg Theatre of Confederation Centre of the Arts, Jan. 27, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available through the theatre box office. The monthly Dunromin Jamboree will be held at the Linkletter Community Centre, 1670 Route 11, Linkletter on Jan. 25. The concert will include a performance by Dunromin, an experienced, versatile Bluegrass band, followed by refreshments and an open mike hour with singers, dancers and instrumentalists performing with Dunromin providing the back-up music.
Dave Gunning and James Keelaghan are in concert Jan. 12, 7:30 p.m., at the Harbourfront Theatre in Summerside. “The Sunset Limited” directed by Mahdi Selseleh and featuring Corin MacFadden will be presented at The Guild in Charlottetown on Jan. 12, 7:30 p.m., by A.M.S Entertainment. This play by Cormac McCarthey tells the story of two men in an apartment with their opposing beliefs. One, a former convict who believes in God, just saved an atheist professor from jumping in front of the express train. He won’t let the depressed man leave, without following him. He feels he’s in this situation for a reason, decided by God. It’s an intense chamber play about belief or unbelief and a conversation about what’s true and important in life or not.
