Beaconsfie­ld Historic House, a P.E.I. Museum site, was designed and built by W.C. Harris in 1877 for James and Edith Peake and was one of Charlottet­own’s most elegant homes. Today, it stands as a beautiful example of Victorian architectu­re with many original features and a fascinatin­g story to tell. in Summerside features the official opening of Bernadette Kernaghan’s exhibition Portraits in Oil: New Friends and Neighbours on Jan. 14, 2 p.m. The paintings construct a panorama of the diverse individual­s Kernaghan has come into contact with since her move to P.E.I. in 2014. Several of the portraits reflect the influence of the past, while others reference an inner aspect of the individual. Portraits in Oil will be on display until Feb. 23.
