Stratford’s Winter FamFest returns

The Town of Stratford’s Winter FamFest is back for another Islander Day long weekend, with a series of events for families and winter enthusiast­s of all ages.

This fun-filled weekend fair is Stratford’s recently branded and expanded annual winter carnival, featuring a variety of family-friendly activities.

The events begin this evening with a family fun evening at the Stratford Youth Centre. Free and open to everyone in the community.

It will include arts and crafts, colouring, Lego and Play-doh stations, hot chocolate and cookies.

Saturday includes the Stratford Area Lions Club pancake breakfast and official welcoming ceremony, build-a-birdfeeder event and a free skate at the Pownal Sports Centre.

There will also be free wagon rides and a petting zoo at Great Northern Adventures in the afternoon.

Stratford’s FamFest fun fair is 1-5 p.m. on Sunday and Monday (Islander Day) at Stratford Town Centre, with activities including inflatable­s, games, obstacle courses, mini golf, face-painting, balloon twisting and more.

On Sunday, Star Wars characters will be onsite for photos as will Music Man Michael Pendergast and the Mr. Magic show.

Monday’s activities include a princess party and Bunny Trails Pet Ranch.

All events taking place in the family lounge are free on Sunday and Monday.

Families can purchase a bracelet or individual tickets, with proceeds going to the Stratford Youth Centre for the Par-T-Perfect Fun Zone.
