Yoga workshops this weekend

-

There will be two Kundalini yoga workshops in Charlottetown this weekend.

Kundalini yoga involves physical action, chanting, breath work and meditation.

Both workshops are led by Yoga Ink’s Ruth Richman and will be held at Health Within Holistic Centre, 500 B Queen St.

The first workshop ‘Good Vibrations’ takes place on Friday, 6:30-8:30 p.m. while the second workshop, entitled ‘Lunar Woman’, goes Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Good Vibrations” is open to everyone; no previous experience is necessary. The workshop will be a night of chanting using Kundalini Yoga mantra and music. Chanting is not the same as singing. It is the energy vibration of the words and sounds that affect people.

“Lunar Woman” grows from the connection women have with the moon. It is an ancient idea that women feel the pull of the moon and that this pull affects energy levels and body patterns.

In the workshop, participants learn about the 11 mood centres that help clarify a woman’s nature.

A vegetarian lunch is included in the registration fee. Pre-registration is necessary as there is a maximum number the room will hold.

The workshops are part of a series of six workshops on yoga and related topics held in January and February. For information, go to www.yogaink.com.
