Dunsford assembles ‘all-stars’

Community centre will host dance Saturday

-

A rock ’n’ roll dance is set for the Jack Blanchard Centre on March 24 beginning at 9 p.m., and Dino Dunsford is calling on some P.E.I. legends with a wealth of experience to take the stage.

Bass player Heartz Godkin and singer/drummer Peter Burke, members of the Ceilidh in the City band, played across the country in the 1960s in various groups. They have backed up some Island favourites like Kelly Mooney, Kendall Docherty and Nial MacKay.

Lead guitarist David Berrigan has played in many Island bands such as Karson, New Sounds and the Classics. He also was the lead guitar player on the popular CBC Sounds of The Island show from 1982 to 1985.

The last member of the band, Gary Cudmore, is well-known around the Holy Redeemer Parish as the organist for the church but he’s probably better known as one of the original members of the Blue Crystals band, who along with the Tremtones and others got us all started on rock ‘n’ roll.

They both started before Dino and the Satins got going.

Cudmore will be playing Wild Weekend on the saxophone as well as playing the keyboards.

The dance is a fundraiser for the Holy Redeemer and the Knights of Columbus and is for those 19 and over. Tickets are available at the door for $10. Doors open at 8 p.m. All are welcome.

The hall is located on Pond Street in Charlottetown.
