The 19th annual Bluegrass Old Country Jamboree is March 24, 7 p.m., at Harbourfro­nt Theatre in Summerside, an evening of entertainm­ent, featuring The Oxbow Mountain Boys, Mark Boutilier, Joe Casey and Westwind. Master of ceremonies will be Marilyn Singer.

A fundraisin­g ceilidh, in aid of the Type One Diabetes Children’s Camp, is March 24, 7 p.m., at the Murray River Hall. Emcee is Lewis Penny. Entertaine­rs include Len Buell, Wayne MacLean, Edna MacMaster, Urban Chaisson, Vince Keoughan, Colton Matheson, Walter Ching, Jamie O’Brien, Andy Clarey, Angela Curran, Billy Hayter, Edwin Singleton, Lewis Penny, Wendy Jackson and Jeannie Nicholson. All donations will be accepted. There will also be a 50/50 draw, a silent auction and a draw for an Adirondack chair.

Helping Hands Band Jamboree is March 24, 7:30 p.m., at St. Anthony’s Hall, Route 2, Woodstock, with funds raised supporting local charities. Admission is at the door. Come and enjoy music, fun and lunch.

A new kitchen party is at the St. Eleanors Lions Club Saturdays, 8-11 p.m., with Country Roadrunner (Donna Lee Perry). Open mic is at 9:30 p.m., so bring an instrument or just sing along.

Ceilidh in Kinkora will be held on March 25 at Kinkora Place, 1:30 p.m. The admission of $8 includes lunch. Performers are Not All There, Elmer Doiron, Mildred Dover, Mary Smith, Dennis Boudreault, Irish music session Acoustic music jam is every Sunday, 2-8:30 p.m., at the Acadian Musical Village (Expo-Centre), Abram-Village, organized by the Acadian Musical Village and the Evangeline Bluegrass Festival. The monthly ceilidh concert at the Bonshaw Hall is March 25, 2-4 p.m. (storm day: April 2). Performers include Drea MacDonald, The Whiskey Boys (Steve Jenkins and Albert Gaudet), The Treble Makers (Tillie MacLeod, Cindy Arsenault, Gail DesRoches) and Hannah and Grace Thompson, plus regulars Laura Lefebvre, Herb MacDonald, Phil Pineau and/or Tony the Troubador. Guest performers include Winnie Murphy Cantelo, Friends of the Irish (Leo, Norman, Randy), Angela MacCormack, Wes McAleer and friends and Buddy Longaphie. There will be a 50/50 draw and a door prize, and lunch will be served. A donation will be made to the Salvation Army. The centre is wheelchair accessible. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

QCONCERTS

Afternoon recital series, featuring UPEI music majors, is Fridays, 12:40 p.m., at the Dr. Steel Recital Hall, UPEI.

Got Blues Matinee is Saturdays, 2:30-4:30 p.m., at The Factory Cookhouse, 189 Kent St., Charlottet­own, hosted by Got Blues (Chris Roumbanis and friends Reg Ballagh and Mike Robicheau). Each week there is a special guest, and the second set is always an electric blues jam. On March 24, the guests are singer/guitarist/ harmonica player Katey Day from New Brunswick, guitarist/singer Roland Beaulieu and drummer Jim O’Leary.

UPEI Wind Symphony is at Park Royal United Church, March 24, 7:30 p.m., directed by Karem J. Simon. Admission is adults, $15, students, $10.

Junior recitals are March 25, 2:30 p.m., at the Dr. Steel Recital Hall, UPEI, featuring Mallory

Music night at St. Louis Community Centre is March 25, 7:30 p.m., featuring Keelin Wedge, Elaine Wedge and Christine Cameron. Admission is $5. Lunch is provided.

A bluegrass and acoustic music concert, featuring the Arsenault Brothers is March 26, 7-9 p.m., at the Summerside Legion. Open mike performers, 7-7:30 p.m., have free admission. Lively Songs for Little People by Michael Pendergast (the Music Man) are casual drop-in shows with a small family-friendly rate, movements, songs, dance and humour. Choral Music on a Holy Day will be presented at Trinity United Church in Charlottet­own on March 30, 7 p.m. The Confederat­ion Singers, directed by Donald Fraser and accompanie­d by Francis McBurine, present Louis Vierne’s majestic Solemn Mass in C sharp minor and a selection of shorter works. Tickets are available through the Confederat­ion Centre of the Arts box office, as well as at the door the evening of the concert, subject to availabili­ty.

A fundraiser for LaVerne Ellands is at the Crapaud Curling Club, March 23, 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

LaVerne, who is married to Geoff Ellands and has two children, was diagnosed in 2017 with chronic myelogenou­s leukemia (CML). The event features music by Tip Er Back, 8:30 p.m.-11 p.m., with donations at the door. There will also be a silent auction, cake auction and 50/50.

QDANCES

The members of the Royal Canadian Air Force Associatio­n 201 (Confederat­ion) Wing Charlottet­own invite people to join them for the Easter Themed Wing Social being held on March 23 at Malcolm Darrach Community Centre, 1 Avonlea Dr., East Royalty. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the 201 Wing Band takes the page from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. A light lunch is provided along with tea and coffee, and the bar will be open. The cost is $7 per person or $15 per couple.

Fallback plays 1950s/60s dance music at The Factory, 189 Kent St., Charlottet­own, every Friday, 8-11 p.m., in March. A cover charge is at the door.

A dance will be held at Rustico Bay Seniors’ Club, 2104 Church Rd., (South) Rustico, March 24, with dancing 8-11 p.m. Music is by (Little) Alfred Gallant (fiddle and guitar), Kaitlyn Gallant (keyboard and vocals) and Laurie Dempster (lead vocalist and guitar).
