P.E.I. represented at Atlantic Band Festival
Kinkora Regional High School
There’s a spring concert at Kinkora Regional High School (KRHS) on May 8 at 6:30 p.m.
The Grade 9 concert band earned bronze for its performance, and the Grade 9-12 concert band had a silver performance at the Atlantic Band Festival in Halifax, behind the leadership of Peter Wynne.
The student loans presentation is May 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the KRHS library.
From May 10-11, the school will again set off on the Grade 11 Western Agriculture Tour with all Grade 11 students from Kensington Intermediate Senior High School (KISH) and KRHS.
The 2018 grad gala/prom is May 19. There are no classes on Victoria Day, May 21.
On May 22-23, there will be a baked goods fundraiser held for the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. Baked goods will be sold in the cafeteria at lunch. There will also be a donation jar located in the office.
Whenever the money is collected, the donation will be from KRHS to the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign and, if students wish, a personal message from each student can be included.
The 56th annual commencement exercises of Kinkora Regional High School are June 22 at 7 p.m. Maggie Linkletter and her family are hosting the annual grad barbecue this year following Grade 12 exams in June, while Payton Reeves and her family will host the annual grad breakfast on graduation morning.
Grad parents are encouraged to contact either of these families to help out with these events.
Montague Regional High School
Chloe Harris recently competed at the Poetry in Voice National Finals in Toronto. Montague Regional High School (MRHS) congratulates her on this accomplishment.
A selection of students will be writing this year’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) test on May 15. Notices have been sent home to those students who are participating. For more information, contact Mr. Trainor.
On April 28, MRHS hosted the annual general meeting for the P.E.I. Hospital Auxiliary. This was a wonderful event in which many students were involved. They hosted, prepared and served a delicious meal for the ladies of the auxiliary. Students also provided entertainment during lunch break and cleaned up.
Charlottetown Rural High School
Charlottetown Rural High School students Haley Perry, Jaden Bulger, Devon Prosser and Cassie Gregory participated in the Wits and Words Slam poetry competition last Wednesday at Receiver Coffee, with Haley achieving a thirdplace finish.
Sea cadet Skye Watson, a Grade 11 student, was chosen to represent P.E.I. on a threeweek deployment on the Training Ship Royalist.
Skye is currently sailing a tall ship through the English Channel and the Irish Sea with other cadets from Canada and the United Kingdom.

Natalie Engroff will be working in an itinerant resource position at the Public Schools Branch for the remainder of the school year. Joining the staff in her place will be Amanda Dunsford.
As well, Rosalyn Strickey has completed her requirements of her counselling program and will be joining our staff for the remainder of the school year.
Colonel Gray High School
Colonel Gray High School welcomes teachers Morgan Hennessey and Ashley McGuigan, replacing Amanda Spidel on maternity leave.
Today at lunch, students can have questions answered and find out information at the student loan session in student services.
Today to May 9, students will be writing the DELF exam.
Five groups of entrepreneurship 521 students will be taking part in the Junior Achievement Company Program with the spring pop-up shops on May 9 in the Charlottetown Mall (Winner’s Court). Check out some unique products between 6-8 p.m.
About 45 Grade 10 students will be writing PISA all day on May 10.
Students interested in submitting their names to possibly become this year’s valedictorian should see Mrs. Cutcliffe.
A vote will determine the successful candidate during a graduate assembly scheduled for May 23.
