Students busy with school projects, fundraising activities
Montague Regional High School
There will be no classes on May 21, due to Victoria Day.
Building it Up and Breaking it Down, a recent Montague Regional High School collaboration between History 621x and Music 421/521/621 was well received. History students presented their research on significant world events such as the Holocaust, the Cold War, the Fall of the Berlin Wall, Apartheid and 9/11. The music students supported presenters by performing selections of musical compositions inspired by and related to these events. The selections ranged from jazz and classical to contemporary.
Lunch and learn sessions are being offered for students seeking information on life after high school. An invited guest leads each session. The topic on May 16 will be Reality of University will be the topic on May 16. Healthy on a Budget will be discussed on May 23. All students are welcome to attend.
Charlottetown Rural High School
Kiara Labobe, a Grade 11 student, is representing P.E.I. as a member of Team Atlantic at the 2018 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships in Membertou this week.
Elections were recently held to determine the student council executive for the 201819 school year. The executive includes president, Spencer Swaine, vice president, Dylan Cooper, treasurer, Michelle Baldwin, secretary, Sharlice Bradley, arts rep, Paige Chaisson, athletic rep, Thomas Hogan and Grade 11 rep, Adam MacKenzie.
Congratulations to all students who ran for these positions. The speeches were excellent and, as a result, the student body was given a great opportunity to make an informed vote.
Students from the E.Y.E.S. Committee and Grade 11 IB class are holding a car wash on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Belvedere Esso. All proceeds from the car wash are going to support the QEH.
The CRHS band will be performing a spring concert on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. Come and enjoy an evening of great music.
