Wo-He-Lo sale begins on Wednesday

Club hopes to purchase new birthing bed for QEH

The Wo-He-Lo Club is welcoming spring with its annual spring clothing sale at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, taking place May 15-17.

The club raises funds to support the purchase of priority medical equipment for babies of the QEH neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Cheryl Cassidy is a new mom to Keefe, who was born at the QEH 10 months ago. Her late step-grandmother, Ruby Matheson, was a devoted WoHe-Lo member.

“As a recent new mom, I appreciate even more the incredible work of the club as they host the spring sale this week. Also, in my work with the foundation, I see first-hand the need for medical equipment and I want to tell shoppers to not miss this incredible sale at our hospital.” Cheryl Cassidy

“Throughout the years, I learned about the dedicated work of this club through my grandmother and how the ladies have helped newborns on the Island get a good start,” says Cassidy, who is the QEH Foundation’s financial officer.

Kathy Larter, nurse manager of the QEH nursery and the NICU, says their priority item this year is a new birthing bed and will increase the comfort for mothers while they labour and deliver. It allows for easy positioning of mothers for delivery, which assists the nurses and physicians present at the delivery. The approximate cost is $25,000.

Wo-He-Lo Club president, Judi O’Hanley, says this upcoming sale will feature another great selection of high-quality, gently used spring and summer clothing for women, men and children.

“As the warmer weather approaches, we invite Islanders to check out our large selection of spring and summer fashions. We have top-quality dresses for the upcoming season as well as business and casual clothes for both men and women at great prices. We also have plenty of shoes and sandals, along with purses, belts and jewelry.”
