WARNING TO DRIVERS

-

RCMP believes aggressive driving and following too closely were factors in nine traffic collisions over the past two days

The Queens District RCMP has responded to nine traffic collisions over the past two days.

While some collisions were minor in nature, others involved serious damage and injuries.

Six of the incidents happened between 4-6 p.m. which can better be described as “rush hour”.

These traffic collisions required the services of the police, fire, Island EMS and tow services and reduced the flow of traffic during peak hours.

On Aug. 29 at about 3:50 p.m., Queens District RCMP was called to three separate collisions within minutes of each other: one on Route 2 in Ten Mile House, one on Route 2 in Brookfield and one on the Bunbury Road in Stratford.

Island EMS assisted at both collisions on Route 2. New Glasgow Fire Department assisted at the collision on Route 2 in Brookfield.

The RCMP members investigating believe aggressive driving and following too closely were factors in the collisions.

No major injuries were reported, but damage occurred at all three and traffic stoppages held up the travelling public.

Summary offence tickets were issued in Ten Mile House, and with the other two collisions, the investigations are still ongoing and summary offence tickets may be laid.

The RCMP would like to remind motorists to drive with caution, obey traffic laws, respect other motorist on the road and leave lots of travel time to reach a destination.

Rushing through traffic often results in collisions.
