The West Prince Storm won the senior women’s first division soccer championsh­ip by defeating the Stratford Cougars 2-0. Maggie Fraser netted a goal in each half to pace the Storm and Julia O”Halloran recorded the shutout to capture the trophy for the regular season champions. Quinton Mallard got the winner in the 62nd minute after a scoreless first half. Alexander Dixon and Kiernan Rodgers also scored in the win while Cooper Campbell and Ryan MacDonald responded for Kings County. Delaney Roche scored two goals in each half for the regular season champion Lamplighte­rs. Emily Peters and Lucy MacPhee each scored twice in the victory. Abby Lawlor had a pair for Summerside while Sidney Arsenault scored once. Summerside United S.C. recently won the Subway Provincial Cup under-18 boys’ first division soccer championsh­ip by defeating the Eliot River Ramblers in penalty kicks after the teams played to a 1-1 tie in regulation. Summerside’s Stephen Smallwood and Eliot River’s Dennis Park exchanged goals during regulation and neither team could find the back of the net in extra time. Top-ranked West Prince Storm S.C. recently won the Subway Provincial Cup under-18 girls’ first division soccer championsh­ip by defeating the Sherwood-Parkdale Rangers 6-3 in extra time. Stephanie Arsenault scored twice in overtime to finish with a three-goal performanc­e. Madison McHugh had two and Hayden Chaisson a single to round out the Storm’s scoring. Darian Burke had two and Riley Chappell one for the Rangers. It was McHugh’s first goal of the game in the 87th minute that sent the contest into extra time.
