Public meeting to discuss Stratford bylaw

-

Stratford town council will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 26 to discuss a proposed update to its zoning and development bylaws

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. The meeting will allow residents, landowners and the business community an opportunity to provide comment on the proposed bylaw which has been prepared pursuant to sections 18 and 20 of the planning act.

Extensive proposed changes to the current bylaws have necessitated the creation of a new one. The proposed bylaw will be available in the near future for review on the town’s website at www. townofstratford.ca.

Council has also approved a policy which outlines the process to have a name added to the town’s veterans’ monument.

Veterans who served in the First or Second World War, or Korea and who lived in Stratford or in the Stratford area, if their name is not recorded on another monument, are eligible to have their name recorded on the monument.

Any person who is eligible can be nominated to have their name on the monument by contacting the town’s community engagement co-ordinator, Wendy Watts, at 902-569-1995 and submitting the information required to demonstrate their eligibility.

Watts will determine eligibility based on the information submitted and approve or deny the request and, if approved, arrange to have the name added to the monument.
