Playing with Choir is Oct. 9, 7-9 p.m., is an opportunit­y to come together in a large group to learn simple three-part harmonies for popular songs of today and past decades and belt them out for the simple joy of singing. No auditions, no solos, no stars, just fun. The fall 2018 term schedule will begin Oct. 9 and conclude Dec. 4 (with one break in the middle on Nov. 6). The storm date will be Dec. 11. The doors (and bar) will open at 6:30 p.m., and the sessions will be 7-9 p.m. In this eight-week term, learn original arrangemen­ts for “Chain of Fools” (Aretha Franklin); “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” (U2); “What I Wouldn’t Do” (Serena Ryder); “Summer of 69” (Bryan Adams); “Jolene” (Dolly Parton); “Ordinary Day” (Great Big Sea); “Tell Him” (The Exciters) and “Perfect” (Ed Sheeran).

The Judy MacLean Private School of Dance classes are underway at Birchwood Intermedia­te School, Longworth Avenue, Charlottet­own, on Tuesdays. Classes include all levels of dance for ages 6 years and over. Instructor Judy MacLean is a former Maritime champion step dancer and a member in good standing with CDTA. Dance styles include: step-dancing, tap-dancing, clogging and Celtic/Acadian strathspey/reels, plus stage performanc­e. Call 902-566-5545 or email judymaclea­ndance@eastlink.ca. Weekly old-time square-dancing lessons have resumed on Wednesdays, 7-8:30 p.m., at the Murphy Community Centre, Room 303, Richmond St., Charlottet­own. Beginners are welcome.
