Dino and Friends ready to rock ’n’ roll at Jack Blanchard Centre

Anyone who likes to dance to old rock ’n’ roll music will want to head to the Jack Blanchard Centre in Charlottet­own on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Well-known singer Dino Dunsford has reached out to some of the Island’s best musicians to provide backup for what will be a great dance band set to perform from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Most of these players have been playing rock ’n’ roll music since the mid-1960s.

Heartz Godkin, who has been playing base guitar most of his life, toured all across Canada in his younger days and is currently playing as a regular with Ceilidh in the City band, Godkin was also a regular on the CBC production, “Sounds of the Island”.

Brian Knox has been playing drums since the early 1970s with groups such as the Classics and Still Rockin’, and is currently a member of the Ceilidh in the City band.

David Berrigan has been playing lead guitar since the 1970s and was another regular on “Sounds of The Island”.

Gary Cudmore was in one of the Island’s first rock ’n’ roll bands, The Blue Crystals. He plays both saxophone and key boards.

Dunsford, who will be singing lead vocals, has performed for more than six decades. The award-winning artist started singing with Dino and the Satins back in the mid-1960s and has been singing in a variety of groups ever since.

He has also received three Music P.E.i. Awards and is still going strong in the Island music scene.

This adults dance is a fundraiser for the hall. Tickets are $10 at the door, which opens at 7 p.m., There will be a bar and lots of free parking. The Jack Blanchard Centre is on Pond Street.
