Margaret A. Westlie to launch new book

-

Prince Edward Island author Margaret A. Westlie will launch of her latest novel, “Silver Bells”, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Montague Rotary Library.

Westlie is well known locally as the author of novels set on Prince Edward Island with her four Scottish pioneers novels (“Mattie’s Story”, “Anna’s Secret”, “An Irregular Marriage” and “The Back Settlement)” and “Another Way of Being”, the first novel in her Partners Extraterrestrial series.

“Silver Bells” is Westlie’s ninth novel and the fourth in her Partners Paranormal series (“Shades of Molly”, “Molly and Company” and “Ghost Baby”).

“Silver Bells” is set at Christmas, but some uninvited guests from the other side are disrupting the family reunion. Sisters Cassie and Liz have inherited their uncle’s old farmhouse near Murray River.

They are busy cleaning and redecorating when unsettling sounds and sights suggest that they are not alone in the house. The two girls decide to engineer a reconciliation among feuding family members by inviting everyone for Christmas. Among the guests is their psychic cousin, Gertrude. When a ferocious snowstorm isolates the Christmas party, Gertrude’s vision of events past helps bring peace and healing to the present.

Westlie is a native of Halifax who now makes her home on Prince Edward Island. She is a graduate of the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing and of Dalhousie University in Halifax. She discovered her talent for writing almost by accident, while completing a degree in church music and immediately switched her degree plan to English, receiving a master’s degree in English with a professional writing emphasis in prose and poetry from the University of Missouri. She is the author of a number of novels and a collection of poetry and short prose.

“Silver Bells” and other novels by Westlie will be available at the launch. After the launch, copies will be available at Indigo and Bookmark in Charlottetown. To learn more about Westlie and her books, visit www.margaretwestlie.com.
