Rock around the clock tonight for the IWK

-

The dance floor at the Murphy Community Centre in Charlottetown will be bouncing to the sounds of Phase II and Friends as they perform some of the best dance music of the generations as a fundraiser for the IWK children’s hospital in Halifax.

“We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful children’s hospital so close to our Island, where kids can receive the best possible medical care available,” said Gerry Hickey, spokesperson for the band.

“We all hope that our children and grandchildren will never need the facility, but it is comforting to know that the IWK is there when it is needed.”

Doors open at 8 p.m., with dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Tickets are available at the Murphy Community Centre office or by calling Hickey, 902-393-3251, or Blaine, 902393-8379. Tickets will also be available at the door.

The IWK has long been a favourite cause of this band. For years, Phase II appeared on the annual telethon but wanted to make a more tangible contribution. That is why band members approached the local IWK representative and offered to do a fundraising dance.

“It is always a privilege to do what we can to support our community. Like the QEH, the IWK is not a Halifax hospital alone; it provides care for all of the Atlantic provinces,” said Hickey.
