Let there be light

The 24th annual Lights for Life campaign underway at Prince County Hospital

- BY DESIREE ANSTEY

Islanders can help create a wonderful display of lights by purchasing a bulb in honour of someone special, while providing vital medical equipment for Prince County Hospital (PCH).

“Lights for Life has grown over the past 24 years, thanks to the many people who have chosen to remember someone in their lives either by dedicating a light in their honour or in their memory,” said Heather Matheson, the PCH Foundation managing director.

“This is one of the best times of the year for the foundation as we get to meet a lot of people and talk about what Lights for Life means to them. It is the stories behind the donations that make this event so special, and we are truly pleased this event continues to bring the community together even on the coldest of nights.”

Dedications are collected in a keepsake book that is distributed at the event that takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 6:30 p.m.

Gift dedication amounts begin at $10, and all of the donations received before Nov. 24 at noon will be entered into the keepsake book.

On Dec. 5 at the 24th annual lighting display, the community gathers at PCH for an evening of song and remembrance. The Gingerbread Boys, the Snowflakes, the Toy Train and the Nutcrackers will make their return this year.

The Credit Unions of Prince County are once again the presenting sponsors for the 11th year. Since 1995, Lights for Life has raised over $3.4 million to support new medical equipment.

Gifts to Lights for Life can be made by calling the Foundation office at 902-432-2547, donating securely online at www.pchcare. com or by visiting the foundation office in the lobby at PCH.
