The ‘Bow Movement’ planning eight voyages as ‘Cruisin’ for Christmas’ takes the stage

- TIGNISH

Some might think of it as “The Love Boat”, but the real name of the ship is the “Bow Movement,” and Captain Dan is about to take guests on a Christmas cruise.

The “Bow Movement” sets sail on its maiden voyage from the Tignish Legion on Thursday, Nov. 29. Subsequent sailings, otherwise called “Cruisin’ for Christmas” Tignish Dinner Theatre shows, are set for Dec. 2, 6, 9, 13, 16, 19 and 22.

Along for every cruise with Captain Dan (Bruce Arsenault) will be his first mate, Fran (Alyssa Harper), who also has a secret mission.

Let the other regulars explain their reasons for being onboard:

“How you doin?’” asked Kurk Bernard with a flirty nod of the head.

“My name is Randy and I am a chick magnet. I have a natural gift with the ladies,” he says matterof-factly.

“I’m on the cruise to help my friend find a lady, to find love. That’s my job.” Sean Doyle plays his friend, Johnny. “I never had a girlfriend before,” he admits, “so my buddy, Randy, is going to try to help me out.”

There just might be opportunity.

“My name is Cheryl, and I am going cruising to find love,” says Danalee Lynch-Veinotte. “I’m going with my friend, Betty, and we’re going to go cruising together and try to find me a man. It’s the goal.”

Betty, played by Thish Handrahan, is confident in her ability.

“I know the folks around; I’ve been around the block,” she says.

Doors to the Tignish Legion shows open at 6:30 p.m., and the first course of the Christmas meal, catered to by Danny and Leila Lynch, comes out at 7 p.m.

Show tickets can be confirmed through the Tignish Dinner Theatre Inc. Facebook page or by calling Sean Doyle at 902-8536698. Special dietary considerations should be conveyed at time of booking. About half the tickets are already sold and seating is already limited for the Dec. 9, 13 and 22 shows.
