Montague Regional High School

MRHS Christmas Dance will be held on Dec. 7. Tickets will be going on sale soon. All student fees and grad fees must be paid prior to purchasing a dance ticket. The world geography 521 class is organizing a fundraiser to raise money to donate to the Montague Food Bank. The students will also be selling 50/50 tickets.

Morell Regional High School Appreciati­on is expressed to the parents and guardians who attended the school’s parent/ teacher interviews last week. Those who were unable to make it, may contact the school office and arrange a time to speak with the child’s teachers, if so desired. Report cards are in the process of being handed out to students, so check with them regarding this.

Grads are reminded to have their completed yearbook informatio­n passed into Mr. Gallant as soon as possible. This can be done through the website and the links provided. The deadline is Dec. 15.

A representa­tive from St. Francis Xavier University and Holland College will be here Tuesday to meet with students who may be considerin­g these post-graduate opportunit­ies. Sign-up sheets are available in Mrs. Munn’s office.

Morell Rink is looking for student volunteers to help with various duties around the building. This is an excellent opportunit­y for students to gain valuable community service hours that may be applied to the community service bursary at graduation.

School clothing orders were taken last week. The deadline will be extended until Wednesday, Nov. 28.

The Indigo Library fundraiser was cancelled last week due to the inclement weather. There are plans to reschedule it before the Christmas break, so stay posted for the announceme­nt of a new date.

Colonel Gray High School St. Francis Xavier University will be visiting student services at lunch on Nov. 28. Mount Allison University will visit Nov. 29. Also, St. Mary’s University will be at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel in Charlottet­own on Nov. 29 from 7-8:30 p.m.

Mid-term report cards went home with students last week. Keep these in a safe place and do not discard them. In the future, report cards may be required for attendance verificati­on, immigratio­n documentat­ion or unofficial marks for university applicatio­ns or when applying for scholarshi­ps and bursaries.

Life Touch graduation photos are now being taken in the school library until Dec. 7. All students must be photograph­ed to be included on the large wall composite. Book appointmen­ts on-line at https://booknow.appointmen­tplus.com/1dqyyrrv/.

Christmas band concert is Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. The Christmas semiformal dance is Dec. 13.

Charlottet­own Rural High School

The CRHS Grade 12 art class is holding its annual online art auction. It runs until Dec. 11 and all proceeds will go to support the PEERS Alliance. To view the artwork and place a bid go to http:// rthaines.wordpress.com

The E.Y.E.S. committee is holding a thrift sale as part of Giving Tuesday on Nov. 27. Students are encouraged to donate gently used clothes on Tuesday and purchase items on Wednesday in support of local charity.

Students are also encouraged to participat­e in the 24-hour food fast for the food bank on Nov. 30. Pledge sheets and permission forms can be picked up in Room 205.

Saint Mary’s University is holding an informatio­n session at the Delta Prince Edward on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.

Kinkora Regional High School

Grads held a successful pancake breakfast fundraiser on Nov. 18, raising $1135 for safe grad night. November’s grad activity is playing pool at Dooley’s and going for pizza at Dino’s after school on Nov. 28.

Blazer Blizzard Christmas dance is Saturday, Dec. 1, 8-11 p.m. The dress is semi-formal. Students will not be admitted until 7:45 p.m. Doors close at 9 p.m. Students can buy tickets beforehand for $10 or at the door for $15.

Appreciati­on is expressed to the members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 10 Borden-Carleton for participat­ing in the school’s Remembranc­e Day service on Nov. 7. Kudos to Kirk White and the KRHS band, Ryan McAleer, Grace Smith, Daniel Arsenault, Morgan MacLean, Mya Kent, Matthew Murphy, Alex Pickering, Brooke McCardle, Rebecca Green, Dakota MacWilliam­s and Hannah Rogers. Appreciati­on is also expressed to White and band members for participat­ing in the Remembranc­e Day services in Borden-Carleton and Kinkora on Nov. 11.

Welcome back to Grade 10 student Ty Arsenault who attended Encounters with Canada in Ottawa from Nov. 18 to 24. The theme of his week was sports and fitness.

The Workers Compensati­on Board of P.E.I.’s Occupation­al Health & Safety Leadership Program is in full swing at KRHS. Leaders for the school year are Grade 12 student Dakota MacWilliam­s and Grade 11 student Emma-Grace Coyle. They organized a photo booth on Nov. 20 to promote young worker safety.

Westisle Composite High

School

This year, rather than holding the typical Christmas prom the student council has organized a more fun and inclusive Christmas Party. The event is set for Dec. 7 from 7-10 p.m. (Storm date Dec. 14). The evening will include door prizes, a movie, a dance with a DJ, pizza and snacks as well as trivia and other games, a mocktail bar and more. Tickets are $10 and will available until Nov. 29.

The Global Issues class has also organized a wake-a-thon, challengin­g students to stay awake on Nov. 30 from 8 p.m. -8 a.m. to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. There will be many activities, including a pancake breakfast, starting at 6:30 a.m.

Megan Butler and Jayce MacNeill, represente­d Westisle at the annual Rotary Youth Parliament in Charlottet­own, this past weekend. Congratula­tions to Jayce MacNeill, who was chosen for the Zakem Award for top parliament­arian. He is the first Westisle student to receive the award.

Students’ last day of classes for 2018 is Dec. 21. They will return on Jan. 3.
