Ex­press un­ravel Ma­trix in ban­tam AAA tilt

The East­ern Ex­press scored early and of­ten en route to an 8-2 romp over the Mid-Isle Ma­trix in P.E.I. Ban­tam AAA Hockey ac­tion Thurs­day in Pow­nal.

Josh Burgess (1-1), Nolan Ste­wart, Ross Camp­bell and Avery Brown all scored in the first pe­riod, while Holden Bradley (1-3) and Caleb Mac­Don­ald (1-1) net­ted sec­ond­pe­riod mark­ers. Ste­wart and Brown added goals in the third.

Brown also had three as­sists for a five-point game. Jaden Mur­phy and Gray­sen LePorte net­ted the Ma­trix mark­ers. Braedan Tre­mere and Spencer Toole each tal­lied an as­sist.

Ethan Smith earned the win over Tyler Rogers. East­ern out­shot Mid-Isle 45-34 and went 2-for-7 on the power play. Mid-Isle was 1-for-6 with the ex­tra man.

The Ex­press led 4-1 af­ter the first and 6-2 at the sec­ond in­ter­mis­sion.
