Repeat sex offender must report to police

A Kensington man who was convicted of sexually assaulting two women he met through an online dating website will have to follow strict conditions for the next 18 months.

Jeffrey Lea Hogg recently signed a recognizance in provincial court in Moncton committing him to more than 20 conditions. The recognizance said there were reasonable grounds to fear Hogg will commit a “serious personal injury offence”.

Hogg was sentenced in 2016 to 40 months in prison for his second sexual assault conviction in four years.

His sentence ended Dec. 11. The recognizance included several conditions related to Hogg reporting to the police in whatever jurisdiction he lives in during the 18 months it is in effect.

During that time, Hogg will have to submit to having his picture taken and have it updated if he alters his appearance.

Hogg must also notify the police of any change in his name.

The two offences for which Hogg served time in prison involved him meeting the victims through the dating website Plenty of Fish and lying about his name.

In one case, he sexually assaulted a woman in the back of his truck while it was parked in a field.

Hogg sexually assaulted the second woman while they were on a boat and her daughter was in a stroller nearby.

As a condition of the recognizance, Hogg is banned from having any contact with his victims or their family members.

He is also ordered not to enter into any personal or romantic relationship with a woman until the police where he lives have advised her of his history and background.

Hogg is banned from possessing, having access to or using a computer or any devices that can access the internet.
